On June 28, 1987 in the Northern city of Fort McMurray, Alberta, the world was graced with the artist and lyricist known as Deffine. Currently residing in Edmonton, Alberta, Deffine explores the daily struggles and triumphs of an aspiring hip hot artist. Hungry for success, Deffine has worked diligently to master his unique sound, his bars layered with both hard hitting punches and deep, soulful riffs. With an ever expanding resume of albums, mixtapes, music videos, and live presentations of his talent across Canada, Deffine has proven to be a talented and ambitious rapper.

 

The debut album My Definition was released in 2010, the artistry of which quickly gave way to opening performances from a multitude of artists such as Mobb Deep, Warren G, Travis Scott, Killah Priest, Hopsin, Planet Asia, The Alcoholics, Mad Child, and many, many more. 

 

Touring across Canada with Doom Squad, the name Deffine spread like wildfire. January of 2012 saw the drop of the More Than Murder Mixtape. Hosted by K-Blitz, this 22 track album and its follow up, More Than Murder II, showcased Deffine’s growing range of style, flow, and professionalism; including features from some of Edmonton’s finest Hip Hop talent.

 

The long awaited album Purgatory released in January 2023, displaying just how Deffine has taken his skill to a whole new level while continuing the More Than Motive Legacy, turning it into something larger than life itself. Quickly following up with a second album set to drop the end of 2023 (Too Heavy) it looks like Deffine is wasting no time claiming his spot. Looking to expand his involvement in the industry, Deffine created More Than Murder Studios, creating a platform for himself and other artists to get professional and quality recording, mixing, mastering, beats, and industry know-how.

 

After perfecting his skills in the studio, Deffine has further stepped his game up. His own record label, More Than Murder Records, began in 2021. Joining forces with long time brother and collaborator High Def, MTM Records is backed by years of experience and awareness of the elements needed for a label to make its mark.
